ROB SWAIN SAILING SCHOOL NOW FULLY IN COMPLIANCE WITH LEGAL CHARTER REQUIREMENTS

The Rob Swain Sailing School is now fully in compliance with the BVI Customs legal charter requirements following the recent crackdown by Customs on more than 180 local charter vessels.

This is according to Operations Manager Evan Swain who made the disclosure during an interview with 284News on Friday.

He described the process to have the company’s vessels back in compliance with the BVI legal requirements as long one, but worth the while.

“It was a tedious process with Shipping and Registry being backed up and obviously Customs has been busy enforcing these protocols so it was a long process that required us to take our boats out of charter to get the work done.  So I understand a lot of companies have had to deal with it on a much bigger scale so I just want to obviously let it be known that we did the work just like everyone else to get these boats in compliance,” he stated.

Swain also took the time to let the visiting public know that their company is back in business with many services to offer interested persons.

“So now that our boats are completely in compliance, we can offer people wanting to sail opportunities to sail the beautiful waters of the BVI where obviously we have a great cruising ground here. Lots of different destinations for sailing, good for sailing wind and a very thorough process on getting people to come down on the water, as well as bareboat chartering,” Swain explained.

This news comes after 284News reported on Thursday March 17 that more than $100 million worth of charter vessels belonging to The Moorings BVI were detained by the Customs Department after approximately 138 vessels were found to be either unlicensed or without duties paid.

That was confirmed by the Commissioner of Customs Mr. Wade Smith during an interview with 284News.

Commissioner Smith at the time listed Rob Swain Sailing School among the list of local charter companies that had been apprehended by Customs over the past two weeks.
