The British Virgin Islands London Office (BVI London Office) is this year commemorating 20 years of diplomatic service abroad with the establishment of BVI House in London. The Office is planning a series of events throughout the year to mark this key milestone in the BVI’s political advancement and international engagement.
In July 2002, the Government of the Virgin Islands, under the leadership of the then Chief Minister, Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE, approved the acquisition of BVI House in London. It was a first step in establishing the BVI London Office and raising the Territory’s profile in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe.
The Government recognised that its relationship with the UK Government was maturing and required sustained engagement in areas such as financial services, governance, constitutional reform, and European Union related matters. It therefore became necessary to establish a diplomatic office in London through which the Virgin Islands Government’s UK and EU relationships could be managed on a permanent basis.
“BVI House continues to serve the purpose for which it was envisioned over 20 years ago. It is home to the BVI London Office, an office which continues to fulfil its mandate of serving the people of the Territory and advancing the BVI’s diplomatic interests in the UK and Europe. At this pivotal time, I am delighted that we will have an opportunity to celebrate this key achievement, while looking ahead to our future,” expressed Ms. Tracy Bradshaw, Director & UK/EU Representative.
The BVI London Office will publish details of the 20-year anniversary programme which is expected to include events at BVI House and engagement with the Virgin Islands public in the Territory and abroad.
BVI House is located at 15 Upper Grosvenor Street, Westminster, London, W1K 7PJ.
