The Government alone cannot solve the present gun violence situation that has been plaguing the territory in recent years.
This was the message shared by the Premier of the Virgin Islands Honourable Andrew Fahie during a recent airing of the VIP Let’s Talk radio programme.
He was responding to concerns raised by a caller who urged the government to tackle the situation, following numerous recent gun related crimes.
Premier Fahie said now is the time for the entire territory to collectively conduct an internal assessment of each other to find ways on how best to tackle the gun violence phenomena.
Premier Fahie recently announced that his government will be pursuing a gun amnesty initiative which will be taking place in the BVI within the coming weeks.
The territory has already recorded two gun related murders for the year 2022 and experienced a recent shooting in the parking lot of the popular Bobby’s Supermarket.
