Residents will have to wait another three to four months before the revamped online work permit system – dubbed 2.0 – is made available to the employed public.
This was the timeline given by the Minister for Labour and Immigration Honourable Vincent Wheatley during a recent press conference.
He highlighted the need for the territory to move in the direction of utilising similar technology, adding that the new system will facilitate sections for National Health Insurance, Social Security as well as Inland Revenue.
In the meantime, Minister Wheatley at the time of the press conference said close to one-third of the 1500 backlogged applications were completed.
The labour minister said the aim of the Department of Labour and Workforce Development is to have the backlog fully cleared in the one-month period declared by the premier.
