Four contracts totaling in excess of $11.4 million dollars were signed on Thursday for the construction of four new buildings which are part of the redevelopment project for the Elmore Stoutt High School campus.
The contracts were awarded to Quality Construction Limited which won the bid for the Technical Block at a sum of $4,336,427.12; Autland Heavy Equipment Company Limited which was awarded $3,721,766.59 for Classroom Block South; Metro Construction Limited, they received $2,496,690.84 for the construction of the Classroom Block North; while the Administration Block was jointly awarded to Sunleaf Construction and Northam Construction at a sum of $888,104.66.
The total value of the four contracts is $11,442,989.21
Speaking during the contract ceremony which was held on the premises of the campus, newly confirmed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) Anthony McMaster said once completed, the four buildings will house some 42 classrooms.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley congratulated all of the winning contractors.
He said the contractors are now competing at an international level as bidders since the project was opened to the international market for prospective bidders.
Meanwhile Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew Fahie said he plans to have a monument of Elmore Stoutt and past principals of the campus once the project is completed.
According to the premier, the plan is to have the project completed to have students seated and learning in the new buildings by September 2022.
