The Virgin Islands Festivals & Fairs Committee has officially announced the appointment of its new chairman and deputy chairman.
New Chairman, Mr. Dirk Walters, will replace Mr. Khalid Frett, whose appointment expired officially on March 26, 2022. New Vice Chairman, Mr. Birchfield Lettsome, replaces Mrs. Violet de Castro, whose appointment expired on March 26, 2022.
On the new appointments, Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Culture, Youth Affairs, Sports and Agriculture, Dr. Hon. Natalio D. Wheatley said, “These appointments are being done based on their combined wealth of experience, their willingness, capability and leadership skills demonstrated, in addition to their commitment to doing an excellent job.”
Mr. Dirk Walters is a professional musician, events promoter, producer and founder of Xtreme Band. Mr. Birchfield Lettsome is the owner of Twism Entertainment Group, owner of FUZE 106.9FM, and a professional disc jockey and events promoter.
In addition to the chair and vice chair appointments, Ms. Luz Sanchez now serves as the committee treasurer. Ms. Sanchez is an experienced corporate professional whose background encompasses financial services and customer service.
The announcement comes on the heels of the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival which takes place from April 10th-18th. The Easter Festival is named in honor of Virgin Islands Entertainer Raul “Juugo’ Sprauve”.
