RECENT MEDICAL EMERGENCIES ON ANEGADA MET WITH SWIFT SUCCESSFUL MEDICAL EVACUATIONS

Recent accidents and medical emergencies on the sister island of Anegada were quickly addressed by local health officials with successful medical evacuations to the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital on Tortola.

This was confirmed by the Minister for Health Honourable Carvin Malone who made the disclosure during a recent social media posting.

Minister Malone said the medical evacuations were as a result of contracted agreements between several local and regional airline operators.

He also thanked the staff at the Nurse Romelia Smith Clinic for their efforts in successfully stabilizing the injured patients who suffered separate injuries following motorcycle accidents.

“The earlier evacuee sustained damage to her skull while another tourist had 4 broken ribs, bruising to the lungs, fracture to the clavicle, fracture arm and another possible dislocation or fracture to a bone in the upper back,” he stated.

“Another successful early transfer of a high risk pregnant woman using Caribbean Buzz was conducted today Sunday,” Malone added.

This news follows a recent incident on the sister island where an elderly couple seeking medical evacuation claimed they waited more than nine hours before being evacuated to the mainland.
