Dwayne Lennard Jr. successfully defended his crown and was awarded the winner of this year’s Honourable Ralph T O’Neal Easter Hat Parade at the Raul ‘Jougo” Sprauve Virgin Gorda Easter Festiville on Sunday.
Lennard competed against 9 other participants and received an almost perfect score of 9 out of 10.
His first place prize was $500 cash.
Second place went to the youngest participant in the parade Akaelen Brewley who received $300, while Asiyah Grant rounded up the top 3 and received $200.
284News spoke to Lennard after the parade who explained the inspiration behind his winning masterpiece.
After no activity for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, daughter of the late Honourable Ralph T O’Neal and organizer of the hat parade Mrs. Esther Wheatley, said she was pleased with the overall response to the event.
Mrs. Wheatley made a few suggestions on how to get more people involved in the parade.
