Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie is away from the Territory from April 25 to May 5.
While away, the Premier will lead a delegation to the annual SeaTrade summit which is the largest global cruise forum that takes place in Miami, Florida annually. The summit provides an opportunity for destinations, ports, cruise lines, and members of the cruise community to source partners, network with peers both new and known, and hear insights from leading industry players.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley will act as Premier in Premier Fahie’s absence.
Honourable Wheatley’s appointment is in accordance with Section 55 (1) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 which states, “If the Premier is expected to be absent from the Virgin Islands for more than forty-eight hours, the Governor shall authorise the Deputy Premier to perform the functions of the office of Premier; and the Governor shall revoke this authority on the return to the Virgin Islands of the Premier.”
