Local talk show host Claude ‘Skelton’ Cline is urging the Government to do something about the fuel surcharge on electricity bills which he said has resulted in some residents paying hundreds of dollars more for the same monthly usage.
Cline made the comments during his Honestly Speaking radio programme on Tuesday, after comparing electricity bills from the last two months which he had within his possession.
The former government consultant said that the fuel surcharge for the bill due in April was 13 cents and amounted to approximately $2200, while the bill which is due for May has a fuel surcharge of 21 cents and totals approximately $3000.
Cline made it clear that the kilowatt-hour usage for both bills in question was the exact figure.
He said with this increase in most bills across the territory, residents will find it even more difficult to survive in the BVI.
