VOTING MEMBERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIT ON MULTIPLE BOARDS – AMENDMENT FORTHCOMING

An announcement on the BVI Airports Authority Board is expected to be forthcoming in the next few days as the National Unity Government continues to implement the Commission of Inquiry (COI) Report Recommendations.

This was confirmed by Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley in an exclusive interview with 284News where he expressed that a number of changes will be coming to several statutory boards in short order.

Premier Wheatley also said that the Schedules of the legislation will be amended to prevent voting members from sitting on multiple boards as seen in the past.

While no announcement has yet been made, the Government through its official website listed on Friday, May 20 vacancy notices for board members on at least three statutory boards.

These included the BVI Airport Authority Board, the BVI Ports Authority Board, and the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Board.

Just recently Chairman of the BVI Ports Authority Mr. Kelvin Hodge announced his resignation as the National Unity Government expressed its plans to appoint a new BVI Ports Authority Board.
