The United Kingdom Government spent just under £3 million (US$3.76 million) for the Commission of Inquiry (COI) process which commenced in January 2021 and concluded in April 2022.
This was confirmed by the Governor of the British Virgin Islands, His Excellency John Rankin during an exclusive interview with 284Media.
The question was posed to the Governor after Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley announced just days prior, that his government had expended over $8 million in legal fees and other costs relating to the COI.
Governor Rankin also explained that the £3 million figure did not include his legal representation fees since they were covered by the Government of the Virgin Islands.
He said his attorney fees totaled approximately $40,000.
