ADAEJAH WINS GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARD – 2ND TIME

Top junior female athlete Adaejah Hodge has received another prestigious honour, this time the Georgia High Schools Association Girls Athlete of the Year award.

This is Adaejah’s second time receiving the award, as she was named the state’s high school girls athlete of the year in 2021.

Adaejah was shortlisted for the award after completing a quadruple of wins at the recently concluded Georgia High Schools Association Class 6A Championships.

Her gold medal performances guided her Alexander Cougars to their fourth championship title and saw her claiming the Championships Most Valuable Athlete award after collecting a total of 40 points.

Hodge broke records in the long jump and 100-meter events and set a personal best time in the 400 meters. She also won the 200-meter event in a quick time to complete the quadruple.

In the 100-meter event, Hodge ran a record time of 11.33 seconds, breaking a seven-year-old record. In the 200-meter event, she then ran a 23.40-second race for a third gold, while her fourth gold came in the 400-meter event with a personal best time of 53.26 seconds.

In addition, Hodge broke a 23-year-old long jump record after leaping 6.20 meters.
