KATHLYN ARCHIBALD-DREW TO REPRESENT THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AT MISS JAYCEES QUEEN SHOW

Miss British Virgin Islands 2021, Kathlyn Archibald-Drew will represent the Virgin Islands at the Jaycees Queen Show on July 27 in Antigua.

This year’s pageant is the first show in two years and is set under the theme, Unleashing the potential within through resilience and determination.

Kathlyn will join six other crown contenders Briana Anthony of Antigua and Barbuda, Emmanuella Michel of Haiti, Nia St. Claire of Montserrat, Nekirah Nicholls of Saint Kitts, and Nevis, Wenia Verneuil of Saint Lucia, and Chronna Khan of Trinidad and Tobago.

The contenders will compete in four segments swimwear, talent, personal interview, and evening wear.

The Miss Jaycees Queen show was established in 1961 by JCI Antigua and it is one of the longest-running pageants in the Caribbean region. Jaycees mission is to empower women through pageantry.

Kathlyn who is sponsored by the Government of the Virgin Islands, Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Virgin Islands Festivals and Fairs Committee departs the Virgin Islands for the competition on July 23.

Meanwhile, the 68th Miss British Virgin Islands will be crowned on July 24 at the Miss BVI Coronation and Fundraising event.

Chair of the Miss British Virgin Islands pageant committee, Natalie Hodge said, “The young lady who will be crowned is no stranger to the stage and exemplifies all the qualities of a Miss British Virgin Islands. She was chosen by the Miss BVI pageant committee and verified by the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs committee board.”

She added, ” The identity of the new Miss British Virgin Islands will be kept confidential until the night of the event. “Just like the night of a typical pageant there is a level of suspense as to who will be crowned and we wanted to keep our audience guessing.”

Miss British Virgin Islands 2022 will be crowned by the Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, and Sports and Miss British Virgin Islands 2012, Honourable Sharie B. de Castro at the coronation event in the absence of Archibald-Drew.

Registration for the Coronation Cruise begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park. The vessel departs the pier at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $75, and interested attendees are asked to reserve a ticket by contacting 441-0285.
