Ramon G successfully defended his crown in the 2022 CCT Soca Monarch competition on Saturday, after displaying a winning performance for his song ‘Mass Intentions’.
This is Ramon’s second soca competition of which he now has a perfect record of winning, after his debut as a soca artist in 2019 with his song ‘Rampage’.
Ramon G’s performance saw him scoring 33 more points than his closest competitor as he sealed the title with a total of 279 points to walk away with the trophy and a $5000 cash prize.
The first runner-up was his bandmate Pascal, who collected a total of 246 points with his song ‘Buss Chest’.
First-time artist J Versatile took the second runner-up trophy for his song ‘No Rona’. He amassed a total of 241 points.
