Both Pirates and Synergy pulled off stunning Game 3 performances in the 2022 Terrence “Chino” Chinnery National Fastpitch Softball League Championships to complete double clean sweeps in their respective divisions.
Playing at the E. Walwyn Brewley Ballpark on Friday evening in the first game, Pirates defeated Power Outage 11-1 in the bottom of the 4th inning via the mercy rule, to sweep the series 3-0.
Dariel “Robbie” Robinson was brought in to relieve Jeremy “Chicken” Penn, and the Pirates scored 7 runs by hitting doubles and triples, clearing the bases every time.
The legendary Honourable Neville “Sheep” Smith stroke out almost 10 batters during the series win for his Pirates, as he announced his retirement from the league.
He said, “I did this one for my community and Chino; I finished this one out with the East.”
Notable hits for Pirates came from Rico “Polly” Penn, Robles with doubles and Ramon George who hit the final shot up the middle to end the game.
Meanwhile, in the women’s division, Synergy swept aside That’s Ya Problem to finish the tournament undefeated with a historic 13-0 winning record, completing the series 3-0.
Synergy ended the game at the top of the 4th inning via mercy rule, with an 18-8 winning performance on the night.
That’s Ya Problem scored 5 runs in the first inning with hits by Kaynesha Stoutt, Tyalia Nibbs, Tamara Phillip and Valissia Brathwaite.
As the game progressed, the Synergy bats continued to stroke hits as Claury “Clo” Scatliffe had two in-the-park home runs.
Darier Malone accounted for a double, and Makeda Fahie had a single. In this game, the team’s spirit was lifted as all players continued to rally together for their victorious win.
The Synergy sweep continues from 2021, making this Synergy’s second consecutive year of winning the women’s softball championships.
