A Purcell Estate man has been charged for the stabbing incident which occurred on Wednesday morning that left one male with several puncture wounds about his body.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force confirmed the charges in a media release, which identified the man charged as 33-year-old Selroy Hanley.
According to the release, officers of the Criminal Investigation Team charged Hanley with wounding with intent and being armed with an offensive weapon following the incident which took place on the Purcell Estate Basketball Court.
Hanley if convicted can face up to life in prison since wounding with intent carries a maximum term of life imprisonment.
The police also confirmed that the man who was stabbed is still admitted to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital as he is being treated for his injuries. He is said to be in serious but stable condition.
Hanley will appear before the Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting.
