Following calls from Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley for statutory bodies to be more accessible and responsive to members of the public who have queries or concerns surrounding their operation or services, the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) is reminding customers that its online services are available to meet some of these needs.
General Manager of BVIEC Leroy Abraham told 284Media that the Corporation continues to make great investments into making the process of communicating with, and making information accessible to customers convenient and available on a 24-hour basis.
This he said has been done through advancing and expanding the Corporation’s online platform which will celebrate its 11th anniversary this October.
“We’ve made major investments over the years to essentially make things as convenient and as easy for our customers at the end of the day…. Last year, October is when we celebrated 10 years of our online platform and at this point, we have just approximately 30 percent of our customer base. We’ve been trying very earnestly to get that number increased to at least 50 percent or over 50 percent of our customer base”, he said.
Also helps customers manage and track energy usage better
Deputy General Manager of BVIEC Symorne Penn explained that in addition to allowing customers to pay their bills online, the online platform also provides valuable resources to help customers track their usage and manage their energy better.
“Recently we celebrated our 10-year anniversary for our online payment system that helps customers to manage even their monthly consumption… we have on our bills a reflection of your monthly consumption, month by month, how you utilise your electricity… Through that platform, customers are able to manage their electricity. They see the going up, then they can put mechanisms in place so that they can reduce their consumption”, she said.
The online platform also provides customers with information on the best ways to contact the BVIEC with their concerns and report any emergencies such as fault lines that the Corporation would need to respond to.
