The British Virgin Islands will continue to experience occasional shower activity throughout the course of the day as Tropical Storm Earl continues to move away from the territory in a north-west direction.
The Department of Disaster Management in a weather update on Tuesday, September 6 said the forecast for the day stems from a lingering weak instability in the atmosphere across the area, along with a light southerly wind flow, daytime heating and available low-level moisture.
This they say will result in partly cloudy to cloudy skies initially with a 60 percent or moderate chance of morning showers, with gradual improvements thereafter.
The DDM also said the forecast for the territory tonight projects a much drier and more stable atmosphere which will move across the BVI and restrict “any meaningful shower activity.”
This will result in fair to partly cloudy skies with a 20 percent or slight chance of a brief passing shower.
In comparison to Monday, the wind speed is much less, traveling south to southwest at 5 to 12 miles per hour, becoming lighter and variable at times.
Sea levels are forecasted to be less than 5 feet or 1.5 meters.
