Recent court filings made public see US prosecutors sharing new evidence with the defense in the matter involving former Premier, Andrew Fahie and co-defendants Kadeem Maynard along with his mother, former BVI Ports Authority Director Oleanvine Maynard.
The court filing by prosecutors informed that they obtained additional video recordings and electronic data taken from devices belonging to both Oleanvine and Fahie. Additionally, it stated that there was also information coming from two phones belonging to Kadeem. In the court fillings, Prosecutors said this data was received after the initial disclosure of evidence was made earlier in this year.
It was also noted that due to the large amount of data and technical formatting issues, the government’s IT department was recruited to assist with the copying of the files onto external drives provided by counsel for both Oleanvine and Fahie.
Prosecutors said they expect to receive a suitable means by which the file transfer for Oleanvine may be transferred to her lawyer at soonest. She is being represented by Raymond D’Arsey Houlihan, while Kadeem is represented by Jose Rafael Rodriguez. The government is represented by Assistant US Attorney Shane Butland.
This new evidence was provided to Fahies attorney on August 17th, and to Kadeems attorney on September 7th.
Both Fahie and the Maynards are facing conspiracy charges of drug smuggling and money laundering after being arrested on April 28th, 2022 as a result of sting operation conducted by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
Fahie and Oleanvine Maynard were arrested separately at a Florida airport, while Kadeem was later arrested in St Thomas.
Theresa Van Vliet, Fahie’s defense attorney previously requested an extension for filing deadlines, which was granted. Fahie and the Maynards are expected to face trial early in the new year with the court setting a January 17, 2023 date for the beginning of proceedings.
