Works on the Jost Van Dyke Primary School Multi Educational facility has officially begun. The contract valuing $4.3 million to construct the long-overdue facility on the sister island was awarded to Quality Construction limited.
Chief Executive Officer of Quality Construction Limited Mr. Roy Garraway inked the contract on Thursday, August 25, during a small ceremony to commemorate the occasion.
Director of Procurement at the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) Mr. John Primo had revealed that a total of six pre-qualification applicants submitted for the project.
At the contract signing Hon. Melvin M. Turnbull assured the Jost Van Dyke community that the school project is one that will not stall like some of the others that have in the past.
In a recent Facebook post, Second District Representative Hon. Melvin M. Turnbull said, “I stated at the time of contract signing and again two weeks ago the community meeting held on Jost Van Dyke, that the winning Contractor Roy Garroway would ensure that he engages with the people of the island to give them an opportunity to work with the team of Quality Construction to build and complete the facility for school. I do my very best to honor my word.”
Garroway and Turnbull were photo’d at the sight as work officially began. They were also photo’d meeting and engaging local contractors on the sister island.
Chief Executive Officer of the RDA Mr. Anthony McMaster assured residents at the contract signing that the school will be completed in time for the September 2023 school year.
