An official within the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) has confirmed a serious boat accident off the western end of Tortola which has resulted in an undisclosed number of persons suffering injuries.
While the official was able to confirm the accident no other information was provided at the time of the confirmation due to the incident being live.
However, reports from other sources suggested that the vessel which was involved in the accident contained a number of locals, including one woman and a child who was said to be missing at sea at the time of the report.
Eyewitnesses in the area said that at least two ambulances rushed to the area of the West End Ferry Terminal where persons were transported to the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment.
Information on the extent of injuries and the total number of persons on board the vessel or missing, has not yet been provided.
