CIBC First Caribbean International Bank is nearing its $50,000 goal for its marquee event ‘Walk for the Cure’ of which all proceeds will be donated to assist residents in the territory in their fight against cancer.
The bank’s Country Manager Amory Jervis made the disclosure during a recent interview with 284Media as he encouraged residents and businesses to continue to support the initiative which commences on Saturday, October 8 at 5:00 am.
He said, “We continue to get our repeat sponsors and I’m happy to report that we are pretty close to achieving our objective for 2022. And as such for us to get there we’re asking the general public to come and support us on Saturday. The contribution is $20, you’ll get your shirts, you’ll enter into the event and what you’ve contributed will add to what we’ve already achieved to attain that $50,000.”
“I can say we are pretty much in the low 40’s ($40,000) at this point so we need the support of the general public on Saturday,” he added.
Categories of sponsorship described
Jervis also explained the various categories of sponsorship that remain available, ranging from Diamond to In-Kind sponsors.
“In terms of the Diamond Sponsorship, entities will need to contribute $7,500. Included in all sponsorship activities as I would’ve mentioned before, prominent their logos will be all on our various events, they will get up to three free registrations for the major event – that is the Walk for the Cure – which is this weekend… They will be acknowledged on social media, in the print media and in terms of all our various initiatives they’ll be a part of it,” he stated.
“And it goes right down to our Platinum. The contribution is $5,000. They’ll be entitled to 20 free entries into our Walk for the Cure event. Our Gold Sponsor is $3,000, they will be entitled to 15 free entries… Our Silver Sponsors they’ll contribute $2,000 and they’ll be entitled to 10 free events. Bronze $1,000 and they’ll be getting five free entries… We also have In-Kind Sponsors that would provide maybe not monetary contributions but they’re involved in promoting the various activities that we’ve had,” he further explained.
BVI Cancer Society to benefit from funds raised
The country manager also provided some insight on where the funds will be going, stating that the BVI Cancer Society will be the main beneficiary of the proceeds.
He said, “For 2022, we’ll be contributing the proceeds from this initiative to the Cancer Society and as you know the Cancer Society is there to support the wider community, it can be in terms of providing counseling support to families that would have been impacted by cancer, to providing financial support to families to would have impacted by cancer. In addition, we have the Oncology Unit at the hospital that really provides care to our cancer patients so the expectation is that support will be provided as well.”
Meanwhile, Jervis also spoke on the intended route which he reckons is approximately 5 kilometers in distance, stating that it will commence at the First Caribbean Branch in Road Town, then towards the Boy’s Gas Station and back.
He also said there will be recognition awards to be handed out based on the performances of some of the participants.
