The British Virgin Islands Film Commission is celebrating its 30th Anniversary under the theme – A Major Milestone in BVI Film…..A Festive Celebration of BVI Film Commission Turning 30!
The celebration was launched on 30th September with a video competition extended to local filmmakers focusing on the theme: “A Major Milestone.” Ten local film enthusiasts entered the competition with five finalists advancing to the film screenings.
Film Commissioner Natalie O. Hodge said, “We are excited about The 30/30 Major Milestone Film Screenings as this provides an opportunity for us to showcase the talent of our local independent filmmakers.
This opportunity also helps them to learn and grow their craft as well as network with other film professionals. We encourage all to attend and support our local filmmakers.”
Video nominations will premiere at the screening event; The 30/30 Major Milestone Film Screening and Awards Ceremony on Sunday 30th October 2022 at U.P.’s Cineplex commencing at 6:00 p.m.
Finalists will compete for a plethora of award titles including the Neil Blyden Memorial Award for Best Cinematography, The Rhodni A. Skelton Production Award for Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Editing, Best Soundtrack, The 30/30 Fan Favourite Award, and Best Overall Picture along with a grand prize of $3,000.
The benefit evening promises entertainment, a film screening, engaging discussion with film talent, and a cocktail reception with specialty food stations.
Proceeds from The 30/30 Major Milestone Film Screening will go towards the BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission’s Tourism Education Programme. Proceeds will also benefit media professionals in the community to assist them in developing their craft. The Commission remains dedicated to promoting youth[1]focused initiatives under its education programme.
