Two persons are presently in police custody following the seizure of two assault rifles, ammunition and a large quantity of money.
This was confirmed by the Royal Virgin Islands Force in a media statement on Thursday which did not disclose the gender nor the names of the two persons who have been arrested.
However, the police did reveal that the operation took place in Harrigan Estate on Wednesday afternoon.
“Officers of the Special Investigations Team of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force seized two prohibited, high-powered assault rifles following a search of a residence in Harrigan Estate yesterday afternoon,” the RVIPF stated.
“In addition to the firearms, officers also confiscated a quantity of ammunition and a large amount of cash as a result of a proactive operation,” the police added.
The RVIPF said investigations are ongoing into the matter.
