WOLUES FC MOVES 1 POINT BEHIND LEAGUE LEADERS AFTER THRASHING OLD MADRID FC 11-0

Wolues FC thrashed Old Madrid FC 11-0 to move just one point behind the leaders of the BVI Football Association’s National League Sugar Boys FC.

Playing for Wolues, Marcus Robinson netted a quadruple of goals in the 4th, 7th, 24th and 71st minutes, while Rush Broderick collected a hat trick in the 10th, 37th and 71st minutes.

The remaining solo goals came from Tai Thomas, Paul Edward, James Mailey and Phil Nelson.

Nelson spoke on the team’s performance following the match, stating that the game was over within the first 15 minutes of the match.

He said, “We had four under 18s starting the game and another off the bench which is very pleasing. Hopefully the mix of youth and experience helps us keep pushing up the table. We’ve lost points to them over the years, so we are very happy to pick up the win.”

Also closing in on the points standings was Rebels FC which bounced back from a loss last weekend after beating rivals Panthers FC 3-2 to move into the third place spot.

Johari Lacey converted a double with goals in the 51st and 65th minutes of the game and Aquila Pressley netted the third goal in the 53rd minute for Rebels FC.

Panthers responded with back to back goals from Ezra Alleyne in the 74th and 88th minutes of the game but it wasn’t enough to secure the three points for the side.

The game between VG Utd and Positive FC was postponed while Lion Heart FC was awarded a forfeit win against Islanders FC, who did not field enough players ahead of game time.

The National League will continue this evening at the East End/Long Look football field with One Love FC taking on One Caribbean FC at 7:00 p.m.
