The JY Harbour View Marina reopened for business today after businesses there went into a brief period of closure following the shooting incident which claimed the life of Kadeem Jimenez on Monday.
The marina’s management addressed the incident in a recent statement.
They described the deceased as a loyal customer, and expressed a deep sadness about “the events that have resulted in such a horrible ending to his life”.
The management went on to condemn the growing number of gun violence incidents in the community, stating that all should be alarmed by this trend.
“Gun violence impacts us all and creates life-long trauma for the children and families affected. We can no longer sit quietly by and look on as mothers bury their sons, children weep over their fathers, and beloveds mourn those closest to them. As a community, we must accept no less than safe and healthy environments for ourselves and our children. We must prioritise and promote the peaceful resolution of conflict in our community”, the statement read.
The management of the marina has also revealed that they are taking the necessary measures to support their staff to begin the process of overcoming the distress experienced after such an incident.
JY Harbour View Marina has also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force continues investigations into Monday’s fatal shooting.
