On January 21st, women are encouraged to bring their men, and have a CONVO IN THE TROPIX: LET’S TALK HYSTERECTOMY.
This WINBVI (Women in Need) initiative is the brainchild of Mrs. British Virgin Islands Globe 2022 Dr. Arliene T. Penn.
It takes place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Butu Mountain Estate. Tickets are $40.00. Transportation will be provided from Quomar Parking lot to the estate once registered and ticketed.
Dr. Penn, a cervical cancer survivor, continues to share her experiences with girls, women, and men intentionally. She said, “Women and men have been calling and asking me questions about hysterectomies ever since I shared my testimony about my experience with cervical cancer and my Know. Fix. Live. WIN platform, which focuses on good reproductive health and celebrating life.”
Some women have had to make this life-changing decision, while others are now faced with making the decision as a result of cervical cancer, uterine fibroids, tumors, or other causes.
“It is okay to share your experiences because the truth is, you are not alone. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Instead, there is something to celebrate—life, your opportunity to live abundantly, despite any imperfection!”
Persons are asked to come out and learn from experts and each other about how we can live our best lives in abundance despite a hysterectomy.
The speakers are:
Topic: So you have to do a hysterectomy….say what?
Physician and OB GYN Dr. Kedrick Pickering
Topic: So, you’ve done a hysterectomy…what are you doing?
Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/N) Mrs. Phillipa Barry
Retired Educator and Naturalist Mrs. Valencia Brathwaite
Topic: So, you are living with the realities of a hysterectomy; how are you celebrating life?
Mr. William W. Penn and Dr. Arliene T. Penn
It will also be an evening of celebrating life, light refreshments, and entertainment by DJ Sandfly. The funds raised go towards helping women in need to reclaim their lives. Continue to support and follow Mrs. BVI Globe 2022 on the road to Mrs. Globe 2023.
