While the British Virgin Islands Red Cross celebrated the 16 graduates who are now qualified to provide home care aid after completing a recent course with the entity, the graduation ceremony was not without reflection on the difficulties of the job ahead and the need for more persons to get involved in such initiatives.
As she addressed her fellow graduates, Marylin Freeman issued a call to the wider community, especially males, to see the need to get certified this necessary field.
Freeman was part of an all female graduating group from this course.
As the community was encouraged to get involved, the event’s Keynote Speaker Kareem Nelson Hull reflected on the type of individual who should consider such a role, and how fulfilling the job of a caretaker could be.
