One Love United FC is now only three points behind league leaders Sugar Boys FC after hammering Positive FC 6-nil at the Greenland stadium over the weekend in the BVI Football Association’s Men’s National League.
Playing in East End/Long Look, One Love United’s victory came as a result of a pair of goals each from Collin Lavia (2) and Shane Prince (2) while Julian Davidson and Shavaughn Williams netted the remaining two goals.
The victory placed United in second place which according to Manager Mark Savage is evidence that the other teams should be on their guard.
“Other teams need to be very aware now! We are here, and the League is for the taking,” Savage stated.
He added, “It was a great game, we started a bit sticky, but eventually outplayed them. They have added some players and were definitely much better than in previous games. We are mounting a serious challenge now for the title, we will be training hard, taking no team lightly and looking to go out and win every game.”
Meanwhile, Lion Heart FC also had a goal fest against their opponents Old Madrid FC netting 6 goals to Madrid’s 1.
Despite being short handed with only eight players, Lion Heart FC was able to dominate Old Madrid from the first minute with Maxwell Clark netting a hat trick, while Tyrone Buddah scored a pair and Michael Butt the final goal.
The victory was Lion Heart’s fourth win of the season.
This coming weekend at the Greenland stadium in East End/Long Look, One Love United will take on VG United on Saturday, January 28 at 6.30 p.m. while on Sunday, January 29 Lion Heart FC will take on Positive FC at 5:30 p.m.
