One female has been charged in relation to a major investigation into human trafficking in the territory and four victims rescued.
She is 37-year-old Genette Colastin of Pockwood Pond, Tortola.
According to a media release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, Colastin was subsequently charged on Friday, February 4th “with various human trafficking offences.”
She was one of three persons arrested on suspicion of human trafficking. However, the other two persons were released pending further investigation.
The police also revealed that four persons believed to be human trafficking victims were rescued from another island and are now in the hands of the Immigration Department.
Speaking on the breakthrough, Commissioner of Police Mark Collins said that this investigation is complex and far-reaching.
