The BVI Football Association (BVIFA) will be hosting a Women’s Football Festival on February 11th and 25th on Virgin Gorda and Tortola respectively.
Competitions Manager at the BVIFA Dean “The Sportsman” Greenaway in an exclusive interview with 284News on Monday, said the festival is all about promoting women’s football in the territory.
Greenaway also said the festival will be utilized as the foundation to identify the number of women interested in playing football in the territory with a goal to establish a women’s league once successful.
The festival Coordinator for Virgin Gorda Ms. Gloria George-Fahie spoke to the vision of the festival.
Meanwhile, Women’s Football Committee Chair Ms. Makeda Fahie said she is happy to have such an event taking place in the territory.
She said it will help to educate women on the many benefits of football, especially the health benefits that it has to offer.
