Territorial At Large Representative Hon. Shereen Flax-Charles will have another opportunity to submit her application if she intends to run as a Virgin Islands Party candidate in the upcoming election.
Flax-Charles, who is presently the Junior Minister for Trade and Economic Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, did not satisfy the provisions of the VIP Congress constitution in the application she submitted for the Congress election which was held last Sunday.
Chairman of the VIP and Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley made the announcement to the media, stating that no talks of a replacement for Flax-Charles was held at that point.
The premier was asked why the alleged issue of the application was not addressed during the meeting to have Flax-Charles rectify the issue.
He said it could have been done, but the time had passed, noting initially that the honourable member had to leave the meeting early to attend a family emergency.
Premier Wheatley said the junior minister will have a chance to be ratified at a subsequent special convention which will be announced soon.
