Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio Wheatley believes that the process taken to consider and implement the recommendations given in Auditor General’s reports must be done with extreme caution, much like was the case with the Commission of Inquiry (COI) Recommendations.
Wheatley, at the time, was addressing the House of Assembly on the heels of two Auditor General reports being laid before the house.
He expressed that in some cases, while the recommendations may be beneficial in one area, they may negatively impact others.
He believes that it is imperative to such processes to have constructive dialogue and cooperation, and to possibly determine other solutions which may not have been listed.
This, he noted, is a benefit of democracy in such undertakings.
He stressed that, as was the case with the COI, recommendations are often made under an assumption of the circumstances of implementation.
