Virgin Islands Party Candidate for the 8th District Allen Wheatley says that he was drawn to contest the upcoming general election by his overwhelming concerns on the threat of the suspension of the constitution and how that could infringe on the human rights of Virgin Islanders.
Ahead of deciding to move forward with his candidacy, Wheatley said that he considered the issues confronting the territory on many occasions and challenged a lot of the decisions of the National Unity Government.
Wheatley believes that he brings a unique wealth of expertise and experience to the table for the people of the 8th District.
He added that through his eyes, there is nothing that is happening right now in the territory “that is any great challenge to fix”.
The 8th District Representative also shared that he personally agrees fundamentally with the Commission of Inquiry.
Notwithstanding that, he says that the necessary expertise exists in the Virgin Islands to identify and rectify issues internally without the need for outside intervention.
