Governor John Rankin has reserved comment on the audit report into the Government’s Assistance Grants Programmes pending a proper release of the document which he believes was leaked from the Cabinet.
Rankin told members of the press that while it is important that such documents come to the public, it is necessary that due process be adhered to.
His comments follow a previous written statement in which he ordered that the Cabinet Secretary conduct an inquiry into the leak.
Rankin’s statement on the leak revealed that his office was also in receipt of an unredacted form of the audit report.
However, he has rubbished the idea that the source of the leak may have been his own office.
Nonetheless, the Governor says that his office is open to being investigated as seen fit by the Cabinet Secretary.
