Governor John Rankin has concluded that audits recently laid before the House of Assembly have evidenced failure in good governance.
The audits he spoke of, at the time, surrounded contracts granted to Claude Skelton Cline for consultancy and to EZ Shipping for the use of Static Marine Platforms.
On the heels of concerning conclusions in both reports, the Governor has made the relevant requests with the Attorney General, Director of Public Prosecutions and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, to determine if the territory should proceed with a recovery of the government funds, and whether there were any criminal offences committed.
In addition to these ongoing assessments, the Governor has stressed that one of the most important steps moving forward is consideration of the lessons learned from this process.
