The Virgin Islands Party on March 11th, 2023 held a fundraising Gala honoring various persons in the Community who have not only contributed to the success of the party but also community service and awareness.
The event which was held at Manhattan Bar and Lounge was hosted by Mrs. Suzan Rhymer, wife of 5th District Representative Hon. Kye Rhymer. The event saw strong representation from the party, including its candidates and district committee members who participated in the fundraising event for the upcoming general elections.
The following persons where honored: Lynette L. Harrigan, MBE, Mr. Kevin Fahie and Caribbean Cellars Ltd, Irene Penn O’Neal, and mother of 5th District Representative Shirley Rhymer-Abednego.
Speaking at the event was Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party, Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. Hon. Natalio D Wheatly stated, “Despite the fact that things have been tough, I want us to have hope. I want is to have optimism, I want us to have a positive perspective on our future because I certainly believe that our best days are ahead of us and that we have everything we need here in the Virgin Islands to solve all the challenges and problems we face.”
The first term legislator who is once again contesting the Elections in the 7th District also encouraged supporters and guest to “Gear up for a very strong 2023 election campaign.”
Special tribute was paid to the founding Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party and the BVI’s first Chief Minister the Late Hamilton Lavity Stoutt in the form of a portrait which was auctioned. The painting was the work of Ms. Teia Lettsome.
