Former Premier, Andrew Fahie, is being accused of still calling the shots behind the scenes and running the country. These claims were made by Hon. Melvin Mitch Turnbull, 2nd District Candidate under the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement.
He made the statement during the Movement’s recent launch at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Sunday, March 19th and admonished the people of the BVI to not support the Virgin Islands Party stating, “No Green in 2023.”
Turnbull further stated, “While they [VIP] are there listening and entertaining Head Coach, our country is in shambles. You let a man who fighting for his life still lead you and you telling me you are a leader. Man go sit down and shut up your mouth because now if he could have called in the Congress, that mean he was calling in all the time.”
Turnbull referred to Fahie as ‘Head Coach’, a name that became synonymous with the former leader since written affidavit scripts were released allegedly referring to him as the “Head Coach”, after he was arrested in Miami in April 2022 on drug trafficking and money laundering charges in connection with a sting operation in the BVI.
Turnbull further outlined that during the VIP congress the ‘Head Coach’ allegedly called in to convince an individual, who is now on the party’s ticket, to run for office.
While not naming the candidate, Turnbull said, “Because they say strong rumors, people talking, that Head Coach make call in the Congress and tell them they must run. So lawd mother you listening to the head coach too even from where he is, he still running our country, he still interfering in our affairs?”
Turnbull continued on the lectern by saying, “Ladies and gentlemen we must, we have to, we got to put them out. It is no way you are talking about this country that has been embarrassed on the world stage, that has been led to a CoI, that had to deal with our Premier who went away on a government business, instead of government business he moved onto other business without a second, and now still cannot come back from the trip.”
Insinuating that members of the Virgin Islands Party are hypocritical and were not aware of the dealings of former Premier Fahie, Turnbull said, “And these are the type of people, that want to tell me that you weren’t there; that you didn’t know; that you didn’t hear; that you didn’t smell. You didn’t see; you couldn’t use your voice, and now you want to come back and tell the people it was a mistake. One time is a mistake, two times you willful, and three time, you wotless and for your wotlessness and willful behavior what we are going to do? Put them out!”
