The Office of the Supervisor of Elections has cautioned members of the public against depicting themselves and others as political candidates, when the individual in question has no true intention of contesting the April 24th General Election.
“Persons who do not intend to contest the 2023 General Elections as official candidates are strongly discouraged from creating imagery and other messaging suggesting otherwise”, a statement read.
This, as several posters are in circulation depicting persons as candidates for reasons of satire or otherwise.
The Office of the Supervisor of Elections warned “this may negatively affect the electoral process by creating confusion among voters”.
For more information on the electoral process, members of the public are asked to contact the Office of the Supervisor of Elections at 4684380. Persons can also contact the office via email at electionsvi@gov.vg or visit bvi.gov.vg/elections.
