Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio Wheatley has labelled his comments about political opponents as “nothing personal”, while admitting that his behaviour on the campaign trail may have ruffled a few feathers in recent weeks.
Wheatley spoke at the Official Launch of the Virgin Islands Party’s 9th District Representative Vincent Wheatley’s Re-election Campaign.
The Premier’s statements came just moments after he played a clip of Hon. Shereen Flax Charles, now V.Wheatley’s opponent in D9, endorsing the VIP’s campaign in the 2019 General Election.
Wheatley described the split of the V. Wheatley and Flax Charles duo as unfortunate, adding that the people of the 9th must now choose between two candidates that they originally elected to work together.
While stating that in his personal view, he would have wanted all of the VIP’s original slate to continue working together, the Premier made his bid to sway D9 to vote green.
