Ninth District National Democratic Party Candidate Coy Levons says the long-standing issue of Anegada not having an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) needs to be addressed immediately.
Levons, who was at the time speaking to residents of Anegada at a recent NDP campaign on the sister island, said addressing the ATM issue will be one of his priority items if elected in the upcoming General Election.
Levons said the time is now to sit down with the respective banks to figure out a way forward to have an ATM finally in Anegada.
The BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) in April 2022 said it was looking at the possibility of having an ATM installed at the Anegada ferry dock.
The then BVIPA Managing Director Oleanvine Maynard said it was one of the ideas within the plan for the development of the ferry dock, stating that it was the intention of the Ports Authority to approach all of the various banks to see who would be interested in having an ATM in Anegada.
Residents on Anegada continue to complain about the difficulties faced by not having an ATM present on the island, which is said to negatively impact many of their tourism-based businesses.
