“BUILD YOUR IDEAL VI GOVERNMENT” SURVEY – RESULTS

We asked you, the Virgin Islands, what your ideal government would look like.

Hundreds of you answered that call, and this is what you had to say.

Premier

When asked who you would like to see become the next Premier of the Virgin Islands, the most popular contenders in our study were Ronnie Skelton, Dr Natalio Wheatley and Lorna Smith.

See a full breakdown of responses to “ Who is your pick for Premier” below.

Ministerial Assignments

Each participant in the survey was also tasked to make ministerial assignments.

Results showed the following assignments as the most favoured.

Ministry of Communications and Works – Kye Rymer

Ministry of Health and Social Development – Marlon Penn

Ministry of Finance – Ronnie Skelton

Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour – Melvin Turnbull Jr.

Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports – Stacy Mather

These assignments reflect the results of a survey based on participant choice and do not reflect the composition of the Cabinet of the Virgin Islands

Speaker of the House of Assembly

Finally, participants were asked who they believe should be Speaker of the House of Assembly.

At the end of the survey, it was evident that a majority of responders were in favour of continuing the speakership of Corine George Massicote.

However, several others were named as favoured candidates for this position. Including Ingrid Moses Scaliffe, Julian Willock, Dawn Corea Leonard and Dawn Smith.

Demographics

We are pleased to report that a significant level of response was received in this exercise and allowed a wide cross section of the Virgin Islands society to be represented.

As shown in the graphs below, voters from all age demographics and all electoral districts participated.
