After a successful night at the polls on Monday, April 24, 2023, Premier Dr the Hon. Natalio Wheatley and his Virgin Islands Party comrades were sworn in as members of the Government on Tuesday.
This was made possible by the decision of At Large Representative-Elect Lorna Smith OBE to align herself with the Virgin Islands Party giving the VIP Administration the 7-seat majority required to assume government.
In a brief swearing-in ceremony, it was revealed that Premier Wheatley had appointed Mrs. Smith to be Deputy Premier of the incoming government. Additionally, both the Premier and Deputy will hold ministries.
It was also revealed at that time that Hon. Kye Rymer, Hon. Sharie de Castro and Hon. Vincent Wheatley will be Cabinet Ministers while Hon. Luce Hodge-Smith and Dr the Hon. Karl Dawson will be Junior Ministers.
The swearing-in of the Leader of the Opposition will take place on a later date, as will the announcement of each of the individual’s ministerial portfolio.
