The water supply across the territory is expected to experience nightly scheduled interruptions until Saturday, June 24, to allow for the water level of the various reservoirs to be at an optimal level ahead of Tropical Storm Bret.
The Water and Sewerage Department made the announcement on Tuesday, as it urged residents in the affected areas to fill containers with water prior to the shut-off times.
The water supply will cease from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in the areas of Baughers Bay in route to Paraquita Bay, Free Bottom, Port Purcell, Pasea Estate, Horsepath, Long Bush/Lower Estate, Huntums Ghut, Road Town, and Slaney in route to Duffs Bottom.
Residents on the eastern end of Tortola will experience water outages from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and is the only section that will be affected until Friday, June 23. The affected areas include Paraquita Bay, Whelk Point, Fat Hogs Bay, Maya Cove, Brady Ghut, Long Swamp, Greenland, Parham Town, Red Bay, Major Bay, East End, Vanterpool Estate, and Beef Island.
The sister islands will also be affected. On Virgin Gorda residents will experience outages from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. while on Jost Van Dyke, the shut-off time is from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and residents in the hillside areas of Little Harbour, White Bay and Great Harbour will be affected.
The Water and Sewerage Depart said any inconvenience caused is regretted.
