Virgin Islands (US) native Aliyah Boston, a current WNBA rookie playing for the Indiana Fever, has added yet another accolade to her already impressive list of accomplishments.
On Sunday, she was named one of the 2023 WNBA All-Star starters, alongside other esteemed players such as A’ja Wilson and Brittney Griner.
Boston, who entered the league as the number one draft pick, is the first rookie since 2014 to be selected as an All-Star starter.
Her exceptional performance on the court has earned her a well-deserved place among the league’s elite players. Moreover, she is only the eighth rookie in franchise history to receive this honour.
As the sole first-time All-Star among the chosen starters, Boston has been a force to be reckoned with throughout her rookie year.
She leads the league in field goal success, boasting an impressive rate of 64.3%. Among her fellow rookies, she dominates in multiple categories, including points, rebounds, blocks, and minutes played per game.
While Boston celebrates her All-Star starting role, the league’s head coaches will now have the task of selecting the 12 reserve players, who will be announced on Saturday.
Following that, on July 8, the two All-Star game captains, A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, will take turns drafting their respective rosters ahead of the highly anticipated matchup on July 15.
