SHELDON SCATLIFFE SET TO BECOME THE NEXT CHAIRMAN OF THE BVIEC BOARD

Sheldon Scatliffe is set to become the next Chairman of the BVI Electricity Corporation’s Board.

This after Cabinet approved that Scatliffe be appointed Chairman of the BVIEC Board, which will come into effect after the passing of a resolution in the next sitting of the House of Assembly on Thursday, June 29.

The information was confirmed in a recently published Cabinet Statement which said that Scatliffe’s appointment will be valid until 2026.

“[Cabinet] decided that Mr. Sheldon Scatliffe be appointed as Chairman of the BVI Electricity Corporation’s Board, in accordance with section 4 (1)(a) of the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation Ordinance (Cap. 277), with effect from the date that approval for such appointment has been obtained by a Resolution passed by the House of Assembly and subject to section 5 of the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation Ordinance (Cap. 277), for a period of three (3) years and may be reappointed for any further period of three (3) years,” the statement read.

Once appointed, Scatliffe will be paid $1,000 per month “by attendance for his services on the BVI Electricity Corporation’s Board.”

Scatliffe presently holds the position of Director of Finance at the BVI Financial Commission where he has been employed since 2006.
