MINISTER HOPES TO KEEP MOMENTUM WITH SEWERAGE WORKS ON TORTOLA; OUTLINES COMING DEVELOPMENTS

During a contract signing ceremony for construction works at the Long Swamp Pump Station, Minister for Communications and Works, the Honourable Kye Rymer, expressed his satisfaction with the progress being made on the East End/Long Look Sewerage Infrastructure Network Project and provided updates on upcoming developments. 

Addressing the attendees, Minister Kye Rymer acknowledged the persistent inquiries from the community regarding the resolution of the decades-old sewerage problem in the East End/Long Look area. 

“Now as the minister responsible for our sewerage network. I am consistently bombarded with questions of when would the decades-old issue of sewerage in the East End-Long Look area be addressed. Today I am happy that we can get this major component of the project signed”, he said.

Minister Rymer announced that day that another significant contract for the repair of the Paraquita Bay Waste Water Treatment Plant and the construction of a sludge treatment facility would soon be signed. This development marks another crucial step in enhancing the Territory’s sewerage infrastructure.

Anticipating further progress, Minister Rymer shared that the tender for the Paraquita Bay to Long Swamp gravity and pumping lines, as well as manhole installation, would be released in the coming weeks. 

In addition, Minister Rymer said that another contract for the procurement of manholes and wet wells is expected to be signed in July.
