OVER 30 PERSONS SEARCHED, 8 SCOOTERS SEIZED AND 5 ARRESTED IN WEEKEND OPERATION

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has confirmed that it underwent a successful weekend operation that led to several motor scooter seizures and arrests.

According to the police, the operation was carried out at various hotspots across Tortola and ended on Sunday, July 9, at around 4:00 a.m.

More than 30 persons were searched during the operation which led to several arrests made and the discovery of an undisclosed quantity of marijuana.

“The operation carried out by the Armed Response Team and the Road Policing Unit resulted in searches of just over 30 persons. Eight scooters were seized, and five arrests were made for various offences,” the RVIPF stated.

Speaking on the success of the operation was Acting Chief Inspector of the Operations Division, Dean Robin, who noted that persons came out within the various communities to show their support and appreciation to the officers during the operations.

Robin commended his team for the long, committed hours and their dedication to keeping the community safe.

The RVIPF said a number of similar operations have been planned to be executed in the upcoming months.
