The Tortola Toastmasters Club of the BVI installed the 2023-2024 Executive Committee Members prior to the commencement of the new Toastmaster year on July 1, 2023.
The Black-Tie Affair commemorated the Club’s Installation Dinner which was held on 15th July, 2023, Toastmaster Patricia Blaize-Adams served as Toastmaster of the Evening. Division E Director Yvonne Thomas installed the new Executive Committee for the period 2023-2024 and communicated her heartfelt thanks to the outgoing executives for an exceptional Toastmasters year 2022-2023. The Guest Speaker of the Evening was Dr. Arelene Smith-Thompson who spoke on “Leading with Compassion and Communicating with Kindness in an Ever-Changing World” and challenged everyone to look at things from the other person’s perspective.

Outgoing President Weslene Walters thanked her team and club members for supporting her during her tenure. In additional, the outgoing President, recognized the outgoing Vice President of Education, Kristal Collins with the Toastmaster of the Year award for her unwavering commitment to ensuring the club reached its goal of being awarded the designation of President’s Distinguished which is an international recognition for Toastmasters clubs worldwide by Toastmasters International A number of members were recognized for their educational achievements in the Toastmasters International Educational Pathways program.
The incoming President, Kristal Collins expressed her gratitude to the club for their past, present and continued support. She also spoke about her growth and journey as a Toastmaster and identifies her leadership styles of visionary and servant leadership. Moreover, she challenged the club to achieve a three-peat as President’s Distinguished for the upcoming year.
The mission of Toastmasters Club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience where members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. The Toastmasters International motto is “Where Leaders Are Made”.
Tortola Toastmasters is proud to be a part of District 81 which serves the Caribbean Region. Division E Director Yvonne Thomas represents all the Toastmasters Club in Division E include Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Kitts & Nevis, Virgin Islands of the United States (USVI) and the Virgin Islands (BVI).
The Tortola Toastmasters Club meets every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesday of the month at 6 pm (GMT -4) via WebEx and in person.
